Spicy Calabrian Sauce
Growing up in Italy's spiciest region: Calabria I know a thing or two about spicing up dishes come meal time. That's why when I became the Sauce Boss at City Saucery, there was no doubt in my mind on which flavor we should debut first to the public. The choice was simple; Spicy Tomato Sauce 'tomato sauce with a kick.' A personal homage to my native region that taught me everything I know about cooking and surviving off the land. I had only one condition though, we have to use fresh Calabrian chilies, not that red pepper flakes stuff you find on pizzeria tables (and in most not spicy at all jarred pasta sauces you come across in supermarkets). No! Fresh only or I don't make it or put my name on it. Make sense to me. If I'm inspired by Calabria, than I'm going to do it right and I'm going to make it spicy! It is my #1 seller for a reason and that reason is because it is SPICY and TANGY and my customers love it! Fresh chilies only along with briney olives and sharp capers to give my sauce tanginess we Calabrese are famous for cooking up. All farm fresh ingredients and whole veggies along with sweet local Jersey Fresh tomatoes make for an excellent jarred tomato sauce created by my own hands in my kitchen and now available in stores to be brought into yours.
