How To Caramelize Onions
There's really no such thing as a short cut to caramelizing onions. I mean, you can try, but it'll never be 100%. The key is good stirring and temperature regulation. I use a heavy enameled cast iron pot myself, which is great at transferring heat slowly and evenly which helps a lot. Have a small dish with water ready to pour some water here and there over dry spots to develop browning. A good thorough caramelizing takes about 20 minutes. After that, throw them on your burger, spread'em on pizza, rub it on your roast, mix it in with your coffee (I'm kidding or am I?), spread it on some delicious toast and enjoy the sweet deliciousness only caramelized onions can produce.
