How to Store Tomatoes at Home
Tomatoes can be very delicate and should be treated gently. Heirloom tomato varieties, in particular, tend to be more fragile. Try not to pile them up in a bag where their different sizes, shapes and weights will squash each other. Store tomatoes in a large bowl at room temperature always. If they're getting too soft, just place them in the refrigerator. I know they say not to, but I find they keep longer at that 'soft' stage when you do and I refuse to waste any food ever.
Store them in a wide bowl at room temperature and eat them up quickly.
